WordPress 2.4 Administration Panel Preview

WordPress continues to evolve and change, and one of the things that will take a bit of getting used to in WordPress 2.4 will be its latest administration panel design, which is a bit of a departure from previous versions.

The full design hasn’t yet been implemented as of yet, but I wanted to give everyone a quick look at the changes we can expect and what has been put into the nightly builds of WordPress so far.

WordPress 2.4 should be released on January 24th, or a little over three weeks from now, and not the two weeks I mentioned in the video.

  1. Great news-torial.

I will have my 23th birthday on January 24th so the new redesign of WordPress will be a nice present. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. It would be best if the colors were customizable and the dashboard layout widgitized. Then there would be no further debates over layout and colors. Everyone could make the dashboard and admin colors whatever they like ๐Ÿ˜‰ .

  3. You do bring up a valid point with a slow intergration of changes to wp-admin or previous users would be lost. Also I am really liking the comments page update.. its less hastle waiting for the Stats box to load or by going there to check yourself.

Im not to sure on the look at the moment though, because it looks very open and almost incomplete.. there is lots of white space and nothing to break it up. It looks very unfinished.

  4. Very cool. I like some of the new changes, but the color scheme isn’t a favorite of mine. I’ll have to go in and change up some CSS stuff for myself.

  5. Very nice, thanks for the preview. To me i don’t see much change apart from maybe colours and the comment feature. But as you say too many changes would annoy a lot of people…

I thought id see more changes but i am still happy.

Is it still coming out soon?

  6. CWFGameCast – Actually, I was the first to report the news of WP 2.4 being skipped on BloggingPro.com. ๐Ÿ™‚ This interface will continue to be developed for WordPress 2.5. The interface shown in my video hasn’t been through the full implementation process yet, and is one of the reasons why 2.4 has been skipped.

  7. All the small changes are great but there must be something else to, maybe coding for extra plugin features, I think this tubetorial vid sums most of it up

  8. For those that love this new look.. there is now a WordPress theme to make your blog look like the 2.5 admin panel.

    Check it out at blog2life.net..

WP admin 2.5 is brilliant and I would never go back! Well done WP
