Dewi van de Waeter The Lekker Company

Dewi van de Waeter of The Lekker Company tells us about natural skincare.

Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded The Lekker Company.

Dewi van de Waeter: I founded The Lekker Company in 2014 at my kitchen table. It’s a plant-based skincare line.

Do you have small habits that made a meaningful impact on your life and business?

Dewi van de Waeter: Sometimes I just tell many people my dream, so I hope the universe catches it somewhere. It seems to work a little!

How does The Lekker Company market its product/services online?

Dewi van de Waeter: We work with a marketing agency, and we have 2 marketers on our team. They also make their own Tiktok videos.

What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?

Dewi van de Waeter: Google Analytics, Trello and Slack.

What is your hiring policy/process, and how do you retain your employees?

Dewi van de Waeter: 90% gut feeling. A small company is like a family. I ask everyone how their life at Lekker can improve quite often.

How are you funding your growth?

Dewi van de Waeter: At the start, my co-owner/investor ensured we could afford to make a big batch of deodorant. We have been growing mainly organic since.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Dewi van de Waeter: Any brand that is a sustainable, vegan cosmetics brand could be considered a competitor. But I applaud them all for changing the norm with us!

Tell us a customer success story of yours.

Dewi van de Waeter: I saw an advert for a house, and I spotted one of our deodorant pots in the bathroom picture – this was a proud moment!

Your final thoughts?

Dewi van de Waeter: I’m so proud of my team that we’re a B Corp.
