Kristoffer Hanson, the co-founder, and CEO of Prestalo, tells us about the online loan marketplace.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Prestalo.
Kristoffer Hanson: I came to live in Barcelona and decided to buy a second-hand car. However, the process to obtain a bank loan was so “cumbersome” that only one idea was thought of: to create a place that would allow access, without so much paperwork and procedures, to a loan. For this reason, Prestalo was born, an online loan marketplace where the user, through a request, can choose the financing that best suits their needs and contract it through the internet.
The company emerged as a business model ten years ago in Scandinavia. After a few years of operation, they decided to begin their expansion.

What is your hiring policy/process, and how do you retain your employees?
Kristoffer Hanson: We try to simplify the recruitment process and always take care of the candidate’s experience. We have interviews with People and Hiring managers for some positions. We also have a business case or technical test, which we keep short and entertaining. We try to be agile in responding and scheduling interviews, and we always give answers and feedback to all the candidates we have interviewed. We evaluate hard and soft skills and also take into consideration cultural and team fit.
Regarding retention, we work with several pillars: First, onboarding, we believe that this moment is key to the employee’s life cycle. It is a robust and accompanied process. The idea is to make a soft landing so that the new employee feels welcome and understands their role and responsibilities. It is a living process that continues to improve with each admission. Second, we have constant feedback with the manager, and we have two formal instances plus open and transparent fluid and regular communication. We have a very committed and restless team, so in addition to their role, we propose cross initiatives to which they can add their ideas and proposals. Lastly and super importantly, we have been working hard on benefits and flexibility for our teams, and we have been able to adapt well to mutual needs. We currently have a hybrid scheme and 4 weeks a year of “Work from anywhere” that has proved to be very successful.
