Caroline Phillips tells us how Alba SEO Services offer realistic and competitive options to businesses that need SEO.
First of all, how are you and your family doing?
Caroline Phillips: We are all fine. We’ve all had Covid but are now well and getting on with life.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Alba SEO Services.
Caroline Phillips: I started a company in 2011 in a completely unrelated field to SEO, and I realized that I needed SEO to get visibility. So I started learning how to do it and when I managed to get my company onto page 1 of the search results and knew what to do, I saw that I could help other businesses with my newfound skills. So I started up Alba SEO Services and started offering my services to local businesses.
How does Alba SEO Services market its product/services online?
Caroline Phillips: We do a lot of social media, and we keep on top of best practice SEO for our own website too.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how did you get through it?
Caroline Phillips: The Pandemic brought a period of growth for our company as many businesses went online and realized that they needed SEO services. Since we were visible on page 1, we had a lot of inquiries.
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?
Caroline Phillips: We use AHREFS to manage our client’s campaigns. We also use Google Analytics, search console, and Screaming Frog regularly. Each team has a number of clients that they manage, and they get to know the businesses really well. We are able to offer suggestions for improvement and ways to increase traffic and conversion.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Caroline Phillips: There are lots of SEO companies in the local area (Edinburgh) and national ones too. We believe that being authentic and competitive puts us above the rest. We speak in plain terms and regularly report to our clients, so everyone is involved. This means that our clients refer us to their friends and acquaintances.
Your final thoughts?
Caroline Phillips: SEO is getting more specialized, and there are lots of different areas that you can become an expert in as an SEO consultant. You need to keep on top of recent algorithmic changes in Google and try to be authentic, hardworking, and trustworthy, and that will go a long way.
