Eric Edelstein of DOKKA tells us about automated invoice management and bills platform.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded DOKKA.
Eric Edelstein: I’ve gone 360. I started my career in accounting and finance and worked as a financial analyst for a few years for large international corporates. In 1999, I got excited by the potential of the internet and got involved in the startup space, but not on the accounting and finance side – I was involved in marketing, business development, and sales. My current company, DOKKA, which I co-founded a few years ago, has brought me back into the world of accounting and finance as we streamline the financial process for finance teams, saving them significant time.
Do you have small habits that made a meaningful impact on your life and business?
Eric Edelstein: I’m very routine-driven. And constantly looking for life hacks to improve my day-to-day efficiency.
How does DOKKA market its product/services online?
Eric Edelstein: Our digital marketing team does a wonderful job across the board. We also have a successful distributor and partner program running globally. But the channel we’re most proud of is the enquires and new customers we gain from word of mouth from our existing customers. Our customer success team is doing a great job, and we see this constantly from the “word-of-mouth” referrals we get.
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?
Eric Edelstein: Many! We’re very data-driven.
What is your hiring policy/process, and how do you retain your employees?
Eric Edelstein: We’re a remote-first company, so people have to be accountable to themselves for getting the work done. We hate micromanagement.
How are you funding your growth?
Eric Edelstein: DOKKA is VC-funded.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Eric Edelstein: DOKKA is a broad-based accounting automation platform, so we have different competitors in different verticals. We constantly innovate and release new features on a regular basis. As mentioned above, we are fanatical about customer success and onboarding so that our customers are power-DOKKA users.
Tell us a customer success story of yours.
Eric Edelstein: DOKKA saves accountants, bookkeepers, and finance teams time. So there are so many stories as every one of our customers saves time when they use the DOKKA platform. We have a couple of case studies on the DOKKA website, where some of our customers speak about how DOKKA has transformed the way they work.
Your final thoughts?
Eric Edelstein: DOKKA isn’t suitable for very small businesses. But if you’re a business with at least one person dedicated to your finances or a bookkeeping or accounting company, then speak to us. Let us show you how automating your accounting process will transform your finance team and business. DOKKA will connect to your accounting software to transform your bookkeeping, accounting, and finance processes. Digital transformation in your accounting department has finally become a reality.
