When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going

Kay Khine Than Soe Petunity

Kay Khine Than Soe of Petunity tells us about her platform for pet lovers.

Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Petunity.

Kay Khine Than Soe: I’m a tech entrepreneur from Myanmar. I founded my startup in 2017 after graduating from Founder Institute with the support of all mentors and my co-founder, Tun Naung Win.

Do you have small habits that made a meaningful impact on your life and business?

Kay Khine Than Soe: My small habits would be my curiousness and creative thinking, and I’ve always wanted to make things impactful whenever I’m doing something. There are times when things are not always going well as I meant to. But I always try hard and do my best.

How does Petunity market its product/services online?

Kay Khine Than Soe: My startup, petunity.net, offers eCommerce, and other services such as adoption, finding the missing pets, and online health consulting.

What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?

Kay Khine Than Soe: We use Google products, Amazon services, etc., and basically run with the concepts of First Principles and Lean Methodology. We care for our customers like no other.

What is your hiring policy/process, and how do you retain your employees?

Kay Khine Than Soe: The key is empathy and finding the right fit to align with our cultures. Most of our employees come from our customer pool.

How are you funding your growth?

Kay Khine Than Soe: We have invested in our own company so far, and we’re looking for someone who can share our cultures and missions.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Kay Khine Than Soe: The pet industry is big in Myanmar, and we simply focus on our own to improve and fill the gaps.

Tell us a customer success story of yours.

Kay Khine Than Soe: We are well known for our adoption services and customer care. During COVID-19 outbreaks and social distancing being effective since early 2020, we have received hundreds of enquiries regarding the healthcare services for pets and animals from any region of Myanmar. Successfully, we provided reliable and effective answers for any of them, thanks to our in-house volunteer vets.

Your final thoughts?

Kay Khine Than Soe: Myanmar has been changing dramatically because of politics since February 2021. We’re still surviving through thick and thin since.

Petunity is the CHANGE inspiring the pet- and animal-lover community.
