Rachel Charlupski, Owner of The Babysitting Company, tells us about its elite child care service offering hand-picked, reliable, energetic, and qualified sitters.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded The Babysitting Company.
Rachel Charlupski: I always babysat while I was growing up and moved to Phoenix for college, so I went to the hotels and gave them a ton of information about my background and told them to call me for guests who needed services.
Do you have small habits that made a meaningful impact on your life and business?
Rachel Charlupski: Yes, waking up early so as not to rush in the mornings and have time for myself, being accessible to clients and staff, and completing every task on my to-do list daily. The last one is hard but makes such a difference.
How does The Babysitting Company market its product/services online?
Rachel Charlupski: Word of mouth. We have grown organically. Slowly but it was meaningful.
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?
Rachel Charlupski: We use Flo Desk for communication with clients.
What is your hiring policy/process, and how do you retain your employees?
Rachel Charlupski: We have a very strict vetting and hiring policy. Training, interviews, reference checks, drug and background checks. Retaining contractors by working hard to provide great jobs with great families.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Rachel Charlupski: We do not have competitors. First, there are enough families for all businesses, and each family may prefer whichever company works best for them. We have very close relationships with similar companies, which has been very helpful and meaningful.
Tell us a customer success story of yours.
Rachel Charlupski: We have been working with many of the same families and sitters for over 10 years!
Your final thoughts?
Rachel Charlupski: Thank you for including us!
