Susan Johnston, CEO of Select Services Films Inc, tells us how they produce award-winning content for film, television, new media platforms and mobile media.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Select Services Films.
Susan Johnston: My parents were divorced, so, as a child, my Dad would take me to work. I had no idea the value of being brought to sets like the 1st Great Gatsby, Smokin’ Joe Frazer’s Tour, Country Legend Slim Pickens, etc.
As I moved into acting, an Emmy Winning Producer gave me a producing opportunity, and Room 32 was created. A 35mm color noir that won awards and distribution at 9:36trt. The natural progression was to produce, package and cast great stories.
Do you have small habits that made a meaningful impact on your life and business?
Susan Johnston: I make lists often, sometimes themed or just things to do. Every once in a while, I make squares on one of those large poster boards, and in each box, I put what I am doing or want to do and the code them. Maybe by order of how much I like them, how fast they can get done, how they benefit our clients, etc.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
