Building an online logo service from Shanghai, China, during Covid

Tori Logoai

Tori Zhang, the co-founder of Logoai, tells us how the AI-powered logo maker generates new logos and designs a brand that their customers love.

First of all, how are you and your family doing?

Tori Zhang: Thank you for your asking. My family and I are still healthy and haven’t got coronavirus. However, for those of us here in Shanghai, we have been stuck in the house for already two and half months due to the policies; therefore, we kind of get bored, to say the least.

Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Logoai?

Tori Zhang: I met my co-founder Ping during the “College Students Apprentice Challenge” at my school. He was a computer science student, and I studied law. We both thought AI has good development opportunities in the future; thus, we decided to found a company together.

How does Logoai market its product/services online?

Tori Zhang: We market our products by promoting mainly through content marketing and search marketing. For instance, we create content on blogs by posting paragraphs and promoting videos on other platforms basically about sharing outstanding logo designs, skills to make a creative logo, good logo ideas, and practical tools of our online logo generator. Once our customers use the search engine to search for some knowledge about logo design, they will find our products’ information and contents. With those inspirations, they may start to customize one logo by themselves.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how did you get through it?

Tori Zhang: It seems like our business hasn’t been affected by the coronavirus. The covid-19 may press a pause key on the other offline professions, but definitely not on the internet technology services. Instead of bearing the risks of contracting the coronavirus due to the offline working, we can start online meetings everywhere at any time. On account of our company is related to the internet services that we can solve business and issues online by using the laptops and making the phone calls.

What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?

Tori Zhang: On account of both the Chinese business and overseas business, the two most important tools for us are the Google search engine and Gmail. Due to the language and the regional problems, there still exist lots of differences between China and overseas countries. In this circumstance, using the Google engine to find information and images will help us treat everything more international and comprehensive with a wide vision. Gmail is one of the most effective communication tools that can connect overseas customers and us directly because they won’t use the Chinese communication mailbox or social apps. Moreover, Photoshop is also a tool we use every day to make fancy posters and images and post them in our paragraphs.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Tori Zhang: Online logo generators are already available for a long time in the market nowadays, and those logo generators, for instance, the Looka, the Logo makr, and Logolix, are all our competitors. They are more experienced and have more followers. I can’t say that we will survive in the game; however, we will keep our original intention to the last moment, which is to help people create a good logo design that is more convenient and substantial.

Your final thoughts?

Tori Zhang: Lots of people still believe that logos generated by AI are not unique, professional, or special, and can’t compete with human designs. However, with the high developments in technology, AI definitely has more potential that not only will decide our future but also will replace all kinds of human work someday.
