Víctor Ruiz, founder of SILIKN tells us about Cybersecurity and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
First of all, how are you and your family?
Víctor Ruiz: Everyone is fine, fortunately, but we are adapting as best we can to current events that include pandemics, economic crises, social crises, war, and situations such as global warming.
Tell us about yourself, your career, and how you founded SILIKN.
Víctor Ruiz: I founded SILIKN, a cybersecurity startup, in order to help reduce the risks, negative impacts, and financial losses caused by cyberthreats. Since its foundation, the objective of SILIKN has been to protect the digital assets of people and organizations to improve the competitiveness and quality of life of society.
How does SILIKN market its products/services online?
Víctor Ruiz: SILIKN is a startup that was born digital. For this reason, its marketing and business channels are integrated into different platforms and online systems. SILIKN has a presence on various social networks, applications, platforms, and industry forums so that our proposals can help as many people and organizations as possible.
How is the coronavirus pandemic affecting your business, and how did you overcome it?
Víctor Ruiz: The pandemic affected SILIKN like many other companies. But the pandemic was also an opportunity for SILIKN as we were able to innovate in some online channels to connect with different audiences, customers, and prospects and thus facilitate the dissemination and acquisition of our training content and business proposals.
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?
Víctor Ruiz: SILIKN uses different tools, many of which are open source and based on systems like Linux. SILIKN has been able to take advantage of the various applications and platforms currently available in order to generate value for its community. We do not invent new tools, but we maximize and enhance the use of those that already exist to give our community more options.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Víctor Ruiz: Our competitors are the large consulting firms with cybersecurity areas. However, the current environment of cybercrime and cyberthreats is so complex that collaboration between organizations is greatly needed to be able to deal with attacks. Today we are experiencing a series of unprecedented attacks, and we cannot solve this problem alone, so we are open to collaborating and sharing with other organizations, including our competitors. Cybersecurity is a team effort, and it is only by working together that we will succeed.
Your final thoughts?
Víctor Ruiz: We are living through difficult times, but if we work together and develop solutions around innovation, we will be able to advance as a more protected society with a better and greater knowledge of technology.
