Majed Zambaraji Time Express

Majed Zambaraji tells us how Time Express has become the No 1 eCommerce logistics provider.

First of all, how are you and your family doing?

Majed Zambaraji: My family is doing great!

Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Time Express.

Majed Zambaraji: I graduated with BSc from WPI with honors and then did an MSc at Tufts University, where I had a scholarship, followed by an MBA at Boston University. I was then recruited by GEneral Electric in 1994, where I progressed through a series of roles until I became the Chief Growth Officer for their GE Power division in Europe. I then moved to Dubai, where I became the CEO of Agility Logistics, CEO of RAK logistics, and VP of UPS with 5000 employees covering the Middle East, India, and Africa.

I founded Time Express in 2016 with 3 employees and have become the No 1 eCommerce logistics provider for the UAE with over 800 employees handling 22,000 parcels per day.

How does Time Express market its product/services online?

Majed Zambaraji: The online channel has been rapidly increasing in our region, with companies such as Amazon and Noon providing wider product availability and faster delivery times.

Consumers are expecting on time deliveries at economical rates. Retail merchants are challenged by the dynamics but adapting by creating new infrastructure to cater to online shoppers. More importantly, the cross-border aspect of online retail is creating regional retail players versus traditionally being only local.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how did you get through it?

Majed Zambaraji: Time Express benefited from the pandemic as businesses accelerated their transformation to online orders. Businesses saw the pandemic as a means to recover lost brick and mortar revenue.

Time Express was well-positioned to offer a quality service with over 92% on time successful deliveries. Our reputation in the UAE and GCC markets grew to gain the largest retailers in the Middle East.

What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?

Majed Zambaraji: We use multiple tools to back up our marketing initiatives, from search campaigns to awareness to constantly engage our customers in sending parcels cheaper and faster.

With over 35000 customers, Time Express www.Timex.ae is the leading portal to send a document or parcel abroad with destinations like the UK in as little as 2 days!

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Majed Zambaraji: Time Express is the leader in B2C logistics for our region; we offer customs clearance and fulfillment to last-mile with our own fleet of vehicles. Our competition is Aramex, and we continue to focus on superior service and reliability to maintain customer loyalty and pricing power.

Your final thoughts?

Majed Zambaraji: B2C is a combination of marketing and logistics. We are uniquely positioned to continue to grow in the MENA region and support foreign retailers who want to sell into new emerging markets.
