Hannes-Martin Uibooss, CEO/CFO from Comistar Estonia, tells us how they are a reliable partner for e-residents and foreign entrepreneurs in Estonia
Tell us about you, your career, and how you joined Comistar Estonia.
Hannes-Martin Uibooss: We’re part of Comistar Global, which started in 2012 as a business consulting firm; its main office and clients were located in Finland; due to Estonia and Finland’s closely connected business environment the Comistar Estonia office began its operations in 2016. With a few years of experience servicing Finnish and nordic clients, Comistar Estonia joined the Estonian e-residency program in 2018. It was one of the first few official e-residency business service providers.
We archived this by our client’s references, as we had worked with e-resident finish clients and internationally for some time.
2018 and 2019 were when the e-resident program got its wings, and the number of Estonian companies registered by e-residents got higher and higher.
Statistics can be seen here https://www.e-resident.gov.ee/dashboard.
This was when I joined Comistar Estonia, which turned into an official partnership. In 2019, my field was Estonian company management, Accounting, banking, tax consulting, and everything required to operate the company.
As of today, we have established more than 600 firms and handle accounts for about 400 active monthly clients. We also specialized in the crypto license in Estonia, for which we helped obtain over 60 licenses.
We have launched our company management software, “Zero to Scale” our team now has three full-time developers to develop our tool even more, including our legal and accounting teams. We now provide multiple files of services, business management – accounting, taxation, incorporation; Legal – FinTech licensing, crypto licensing, AML/KYC, Startup, and software development.
Do you have small habits that made a meaningful impact on your life and business?
Hannes-Martin Uibooss: Doing hard things together develops relationships and strengthens both life and business; for me, Brazilian jiu-jitsu has helped me understand that every defeat is a small victory in itself and something that helps both in life and business. Lastly, taking a day off once or more during a month to relax.
How does Comistar Estonia market its product/services online?
Hannes-Martin Uibooss: Mainly, our key focus is growth within; we grow with our clients. Most of our clients came from referrals and suggestions; we focus on client value rather than getting the sale.
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?
Hannes-Martin Uibooss: focusing on SEO factors, such as creating “digital assets,” blogs, articles, and referrals, getting organic traffic and strategic ad placing. Our development team has in-depth experience with webpage technical aspects.
With online marketing, new tools, software, and strategy skills develop with the business. We focus on one thing at a time, get the process up, repeat and then add a new aspect to it.
What is your hiring policy/process, and how do you retain your employees?
Hannes-Martin Uibooss: Our hiring is quite simple; the future employee will be part of the team and have a meaningful position.
I focus on the company’s hygiene factors, keeping comfortable working conditions, and ensuring that employees have a good work-life balance between enjoying time off work with no stress about upcoming weeks’ tasks.
This ensures that new employees are in a growth mindset and know that their place in our team is valued.
How are you funding your growth?
Hannes-Martin Uibooss: We’re fully self-funded; our focus is long-term sustainable growth, and with that, our business operation process is improved by combining our fields – Software Development, Accounting, and Legal.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Hannes-Martin Uibooss: We’re not competing with other businesses; we are instead focused on being incomparable so that the client sees us as unique. We use our current position to extend our service fields even further.
