A Word With The Man Behind Osborne Training

Mansur Shohag Osborne Training

Mansur Shohag, FCCA of Osborne Training, tells us how they help students develop their skills, aptitudes, professional & academic knowledge to make them ready for a successful professional career.

Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Osborne Training.

Mansur Shohag: While working in the corporate sector as a professional Chartered Accountant, I realized that Businesses were suffering from skills shortages because there were many jobseekers without matching skills. The light bulb went off, and I wondered why there wasn’t anyone to offer employers the required skills. Then I thought about filling this gap by training jobseekers on the skills in great demand in the Accounting and Finance sector. Therefore, I founded Osborne Training in 2013 with a handful of candidates. It’s now one of the largest training providers in the industry.

Do you have small habits that made a meaningful impact on your life and business?

Mansur Shohag: I always prefer to complete tasks in an organized manner. Personally, I’m not too fond of surprises, and the same habit is reflected in my work, where I try to prepare for contingencies well ahead.

How does Osborne Training market its product/services online?

Mansur Shohag: Currently, we have several in-house marketers and developers who prefer to market our products online through blogging, social media marketing, SEO, etc.

What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?

Mansur Shohag: We use various software and systems, namely SEMRUSH, Custom CRM Systems, Google ad manager, Linkedin ad manager, etc.

What is your hiring policy/process, and how do you retain your employees?

Mansur Shohag: We follow the following process:

· HR creates job posts on the official website and job sites, briefly describing the job opening.

· HR screens applications and shortlists candidates for interview.

· After the interview, the selected ones go through reference checks and employment verifications.

· Finally, we decide to hire a candidate and send the offer letter.

We believe retaining qualified individuals contributes to the overall success of the company. So, we provide a flexible working environment and keep the employees motivated with regular performance appraisals.

How are you funding your growth?

Mansur Shohag: We started with a single location in London in 2013. We now have expanded to two more locations in the UK; Watford and Birmingham. And I would like to credit our commitment to quality for this outstanding growth.

We have positioned ourselves as a trustworthy training provider in the industry, accredited by AAT. This has helped us build a community of thousands of students, which in turn has given wings to our professional ambitions.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Mansur Shohag: We compete against names like Kaplan, BPP, etc.

Our game plan lies in our core values: to fill the skill gap with professional & practical training without making a hole in the student’s wallet. And this is what has propelled us to what we are today.

We offer some of the most cost-effective courses in the industry today, stamped with our “Price Match Promise.” On top of that, we launch several sales around the year, offering discounts up to 40%.

Tell us a customer success story of yours.

Mansur Shohag: Over the years, we have earned several success stories. Our students are present in companies like AT&T Network, KPMG, and CLT Accountants.

Pradeep was one of such students who had a deep interest in Accounting since his childhood. He turned his passion into a full-time job with our Practical Accounting course. He started working as an Accounts Manager in a leading accountancy firm post-completion of the course.

Your final thoughts?

Mansur Shohag: According to the Accountancy Age report, there are plenty of accounting and finance jobs out there, but only a few skilled individuals to fill them.

Osborne Training offers in-demand skills training and guides you in your journey to becoming an employable candidate. We are consistently growing and reshaping our strategies to create a professional out of your normal.

In a recent survey, Osborne Training achieved an approval rating of 89%, which is a great motivator for us. And yes, we are accredited with AAT and are partnered with major industry players such as AAT, SAGE, REED, Osborne Books, and UK digital marketing agency.

Lastly, competition will be tough for jobs, the economy, and businesses in the post-pandemic era. Therefore, the winners will be those who can adapt to the changing circumstances.
