Michele Iapicco, CEO/Founder of Simplified Media Agency tells us how they help brands grow with strategic
social media marketing & public relations.

Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Simplified Media Agency.

Michele Iapicco: After a few years of running social media and digital marketing as a side hustle for a few local non-profits, I decided to start Simplified Media Agency and focus on it full-time. In the beginning, it was a way to ensure I could stay home with my daughter who was 8-weeks old at the time of launching. It turned out to be a true blessing as the pandemic and global shutdowns started a few months later. Running a remote, online-based business allowed me to be there for both my children during a strange and difficult time. It has impassioned me to help founders and business owners make their dreams a reality that allows them the freedom of time, money, and of the lifestyle they so desire. Now that we’ve weathered the storm, we’re excited to continue growing and servicing startups and small businesses with their social media, digital marketing, and public relations needs.

Do you have small habits that made a meaningful impact on your life and business?

Michele Iapicco: It took me the first year to realize how habits were impacting my life and business in either a positive or negative way. Honestly, I am still learning. The small habits I’ve found that made the most meaningful impact are:

· Engage in a community – it can get lonely working in my home-office bubble.

· Stop trying to do it all and invest in your team – it makes the product and everyone’s experience better

· Know when to take a break – burnout is real, so knowing when to take a quick walk, a nap, a day off or even a vacation is really important to keep motivated and stay inspired.

How does Simplified Media Agency market its product/services online?

Michele Iapicco: We use the same services we offer our clients: social media marketing, digital marketing, and public relations.

What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?

Michele Iapicco: Our favorite social media tools are Canva, for content creation, and Sprout Social for all the things – scheduling, listening, reporting, and more.

What is your hiring policy/process and how do you retain your employees?

Michele Iapicco: Simplified Media Agency’s team consists of talented individuals who understand the importance of work/life harmony. We’ve had team members that are based in the USA, as well as Canada, Nicaragua, and Australia. We love being a global company with flexible work schedules and a stress-free, collaborative environment. I think my team is my company’s biggest asset and investment, and I’m proud to be a part of it.

How are you funding your growth?

Michele Iapicco: Right now we’ve been bootstrapping it, but we’ve just started the process of preparing for an investor, partner or funding round in early 2023. It could be sooner if we find the right person.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Michele Iapicco: With the amount of social media marketing companies and freelancers that have popped up over the last couple of years, I feel like our competitors are always changing. I will say, we stay in the game by doing our job well, valuing both our clients and team (we wouldn’t be here without either of them), and continuing to maintain our expert knowledge in social media, digital marketing, public relations, and the industries we provide services too.

Tell us a customer success story of yours.

Michele Iapicco: A customer success story that has happened quite recently… We just began our engagement with a new public relations client and during the first month, there were staff changes. Our contact was no longer there, so I had a call to meet our new point of contact. During the call, he explained he doesn’t believe in PR, but he’s on board as long as the founder is. This is not exactly what anyone wants to hear after less than 1-month into their PR contract, right? That week, we secured podcast guest appearances and an interview for a publication. We love quick wins, and those really gave me and the client a confidence boost.

Your final thoughts?

Michele Iapicco: Being a founder of a boutique agency is rewarding, but being an integral part of the team for founders and startups on their journey to scale has proven to be the biggest reward of all.
