Ryan Cook, Founder, and CEO of NextUpRecruitment tells us about simplifying the recruitment process.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded NextUpRecruitment.
Ryan Cook: I came to the US from the UK back in 2015 on a basketball scholarship, and this is where NextUpRecruitment was born from. I quickly became aware of how complex the recruitment process is, not only for myself but for other athletes around the globe, so we set out to provide a solution to simplify the process.
How does NextUpRecruitment market its product/services online?
Ryan Cook: Up until now, everything has been organic for the most part. For the most part, we do not run any PPC or targeted ads. It is something we will look into doing as we scale further, but at the moment, everything has been organic.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how did you get through it?
Ryan Cook: Initially, as with most businesses, we were definitely concerned with how the pandemic would affect us from a financial perspective, but it was one of our busiest periods ever. We provide exposure for athletes, and with limited access to events, etc., due to everyone being in lockdown, they are required somewhere to showcase their abilities and connect with coaches. We provided that.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Ryan Cook: For the most part, we tend to stay away from who is and who isn’t a competitor. We like to think we operate very differently from everyone else in the industry and have attacked all the issues athletes face in recruitment with a new, fresh set of eyes. This is what separates us; we’re innovative and disruptive and understand the power of modern-day tech.
