Chris Williams of Chatta tells us about how he is helping students learn and make progress.
First of all, how are you and your family doing?
Chris Williams: We are doing well. We have all had Covid and recovered and are busy, and life seems to be getting back to normal. We have booked a summer holiday for the first time since the pandemic began, and we are looking forward to some time to relax together.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Chatta.
Chris Williams: I have been a teacher for over 20 years and developed some new classroom methods which really helped the students learn and make progress. I founded the company as there was a lot of interest from around the world when I started to write about my work at school. We have raised investment funding, the company has expanded, and we work with schools across the UK and around the world.
How does Chatta market its product/services online?
Chris Williams: We share posts on our website with updates about the impact of our work. We also put our content on social platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. We sometimes promote our posts with advertising campaigns. We also offer free content for people to download and link to automated email campaigns.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how did you get through it?
Chris Williams: We were very lucky that we raised investment funding at the beginning of the pandemic. This helped us develop our software and move lots of our training online. We are stronger now and have built a team to continue developing our product and supporting our customers.
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to manage your online marketing?
Chris Williams: We have used Mailchimp and Hootsuite as well as posting content manually. We have developed lots of visual and video content to post online and try to write about relevant things to the education sector.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Chris Williams: We have lots of competitors because there are so many exciting innovations that can improve outcomes for schools. We are trying to build a growing collection of teacher feedback to focus on the impact of our work as we believe the difference we make is powerful, simple, and important. We want to encourage our customers to help spread the word.
Your final thoughts?
Chris Williams: It is important to keep the message fresh and try to be different whilst giving people what they are looking for. We are still very small, but sometimes, we can speak to a bigger audience with a louder voice when we get it right.
